Manuel Fernández (b. 1962) is a designer and artist, and a visionary whose career has always been driven by innovation, creativity and a deep social commitment. Over more than 35 years of international work, he has left a lasting mark on Spanish fashion and culture, building a body of work that goes beyond design to become a vehicle for social change.
His most groundbreaking contribution came two decades ago, when he founded the Fashion Art Institute, a one-of-a-kind project that fuses art and fashion into a new language of expression. Through it, he has raised awareness of social values and sustainability, turning his collections and collaborations into a source of consciousness for future generations.
Beyond the runway, he has taken his craft into territory that is as human as it is transformative: working with communities at risk of social exclusion. Since 2008, he has led sewing, recycling and art workshops in Spain and Latin America, mainly for women, in partnership with several NGOs.
He has now begun a new creative chapter: image-making as a form of autobiographical storytelling, a kind of visual résumé that bears witness to his legacy and keeps pushing the boundaries between fashion, art and life.
